The UK Car of the Year awards were launched in 2014 with the MX-5 taking home the big prize this year. The director of the awards felt that the MX-5 was a worthy winner as it is a pleasure to drive due to its lightweight engaging design.
This award is by no means the first for the MX-5, it was named Roadster of the Year last year by the UK's biggest weekly selling car magazine and was also awarded The Best of the Best prize!
The Mazda 2 was also awarded the title Best Supermini of the Year at The UK Car of the Year awards.
